91Ó°ÊÓ Names T.W. Shannon as 2017 Commencement Speaker
Former Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives T.W. Shannon will deliver the keynote address at the 47th annual 91Ó°ÊÓ Commencement Ceremony. Shannon was the first Chickasaw and first African-American to become Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2013 and the youngest at the age of 34.

Using Art to Provide Better Patient Care
A new approach at 91Ó°ÊÓ blends art into academic learning with students in 14 Health Sciences programs such as Nursing, Respiratory Care, and Occupational Therapy. The program, being developed for 91Ó°ÊÓ called Visual Thinking Strategies, will be used by 91Ó°ÊÓ Health Sciences faculty and incorporated into the teaching curriculum in 91Ó°ÊÓ Health Sciences courses.

The 2017 Ecofest offers something for everyone in the family from cooking demonstrations to presentations on protecting our environment, gardening and aquaponics. A new feature this year is the Repair Café with how-to’s for areas of home repair and gardening. The event is free and will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 25 on the 91Ó°ÊÓ Northeast Campus, 3727 East Apache Street.

Broken Arrow Fire Department Offers Internships for 91Ó°ÊÓ Students
As part of an innovative new program, the Broken Arrow Fire Department and 91Ó°ÊÓ are launching a Fire and Emergency Medical Services internship for 91Ó°ÊÓ students. The interns are taking part of the 20-week Broken Arrow Fire Academy, in order to learn the skills needed to perform the duties of a firefighter as well as earning essential certifications for employment.
